What's Up With the Enterprise Club?

Updated: Jul 16, 2022

At the enterprise club, we have been given a task known as the 10x challenge. We have been given £10 each by a company in order to create a product or service based on the theme of sustainability. We have called our business GOVAV, which stands for Go Vegan Or Vegetarian. Our aim is to encourage a more sustainable and healthy diet in our local community based around vegan and vegetarian diets. This is because these meat-free diets have many benefits, such as:

  • Reducing your carbon footprint and creating a better future. A vegan diet produces 41% less greenhouse gasses compared to a meaty diet; furthermore, by eating a meat-free diet, you are conserving rainforests. In Brazil, the world's largest exporter of beef, the amount of rainforest slashed and burned to create grazing land for cattle, is approximately 10 million hectares (an area roughly the size or Portugal) within a 10 year period. Save our planet, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower pollution, stop deforestation and conserve resources; introduce vegan or vegetarian alternatives into your diet.

  • Secondly, these diets positively affect your health. The average vegan/ vegetarian has a much lower cholesterol level than the average meat eater, which prevents issues such as heart disease and unclogs your arteries. Furthermore, vegan foods contain antioxidants and other phytochemicals which fight inflammation and, statistics show, make you 40% less likely to be diagnosed with illnesses like cancer, compared to meat eaters.

What are we doing? In the coming weeks, we will be running a stall selling vegan and vegetarian foods, as well as recipe books and recipe cards so you can make great, healthy meals at home. If you are looking for great tasting, healthy, amazing foods, don't forget to look out for our stall.

So, if you're looking for vegan, vegetarian or plant-based foods, or if you want to protect our planet or help your health, try GOVAV.
