The new caves and cliffs update is out now!
It completely overhauls the cave and cliffs generation, creating some incredible views and new terrains not even possible in previous versions of the game. With an improved build height of 320 and the lowest height is now -64, totalling to an extra 64 blocks to play around with, this is an amazing achievement on Mojang’s part, with the caveat that the game now suffers some major issues with lag and fps (frames per second).
This increased quality issues mean some original consoles e.g original Xbox One, Nintendo Switches, Playstation 4s and underpowered PCs now suffer while still being able to run it, this experience is truly for the next gen systems to fully run at max quality.
Aside from this the update is spectacular in its new scope and intrigue, with the extreme heights and terrains resurrecting the old terrain and reviving it into an amazing experience. The combination of the previous update with new materials and mobs, make it as a whole incredibly detailed with the glow berries and geodes that populate these new caves, it's a sight to behold. Overall the update has one major gripe but in general is an excellent step forward and an extreme evolution for the simple worlds of old, it may be dividing opinion but has its positives.
