Hamilton

Hamilton is the tale of the Founding Fathers of America, including Alexander Hamilton (played by Lin Manuel Miranda). Directed and starred in by Lin Manuel Miranda, it is based on the 2004 biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. With a stunning cast and theatres booked and selling out across the globe, Covid hit the stage show hard. So instead they found old recorded content of the musical - which they were planning to release at a later date - and stuck it on Disney+. And boy did it pay off.

Wolfwalkers

This animated tale is set in Ireland when a young apprentice hunter, called Robyn, and her father go to Ireland to aid other hunters in wiping out the last wolf pack. But everything changes when Robyn discovers a little girl (Mebhe) from a mysterious tribe rumored to be able to turn into wolves. After being chased by Mebhe and her wolves, Robyn is transformed into a wolfwalker ( someone who turns into a wolf at night). With a plot to tear down the forest, and a quest to find Mebhe’s elusive story. This incredible story proves that the bond of friendship can outrun any foe.

Feels Good Man

Have you ever heard of Pepe the Frog? He’s a very popular internet meme - but when used wrongly it can be very offensive. Feels Good Man is a documentary of the struggle Pepe the Frog’s creator (Matt Furie) winning a court case to own the rights to this popular amphibian. This dramatic film highlights how anything can be offensive and how cyberbullying affects our community.

Jingle Jangle - a Christmas Journey

What do you get when you put an eccentric inventor, his toy-crazy granddaughter and a great invention together? What you get is one hell of an adventure. With Hugh Bonneville playing Leracious Jangle’s money-hungry banker this is a modern classic Christmas film.

The Willoughbys

Convinced they would be better off raising themselves, the Willoughby children decide to send away their pompous parents on holiday. After a thrilling adventure where nobody quite knew what would happen this story really shows the true meaning of family.

Onward

In a world where goblins and trolls go to high school and centaurs roam the streets as a police force, this film was bound to impress viewers. With Marvel’s Tom Holland and Chris Pratt, the brotherly love between their two troll personas deepens as their journey to bring back their dad from the dead thickens. A great movie with plenty of comedy along the way.

Emma

Based on the classic Jane Austen romance novel, Emma epitomises how love can go any which way. Emma is queen bee in her small town and gives out lots of romance advice; the story ends with her falling in love with Charles.

Bad Boys: For Life

Gangsters, police chases and guns-a-plenty: all the ingredients for a great American cop film. The third in the Bad Boys film trilogy shows just how great a classic gangster story can be. Mike and Marcus (played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence respectively) are cops in Miami trying to shut down a mother and son run drug business. This is yet another example of how effective it is to finish off a series.
